Well They're Movin' on Up, to the 4th Floor...

Alex and Brinkley are moving on up. Not to the East Side, but to the 4th floor. Which is still like a moving to the East Side, just not to a different part of the city. She moved within the same apartment complex to a LARGER apartment.
She went from this tiny studio apartment:

To a one bedroom apartment on the 4th floor:

She now has a separate bedroom. It's quite roomy. The bedroom measures 12 by 15. Her entire bedroom/living room in the studio apartment was 15 by 17.

It's amazing what an extra 257 square feet can do!

The couch had its cushion covers removed for a washing when I took this photo. I love that you can wash and bleach the covers to keep it nice and white!

The kitchen is very roomy - probably twice the space as the old one. The cabinets are very nice. Plenty of room for her kitchen stuff.

Bath Shower/tub side of bathroom.

The other side of the bathroom. Much more counter space and storage under the sink than the studio apartment.

Here's a photo of the closet. It's about 9 feet by 9 feet. Lots of storage for her clothes and shoes. Note the nicely stacked boxes on the shelf. Alex is organized!

She has a small desk area outside her bedroom and bathroom. Nice for bills, papers etc.

The books were still in boxes when I took this photo. Visualize LOTS of books in this bookcase.

Note the cute little yellow painting in the upper right of the bookcase. Josh painted that for her. Such a sweet little brother.

Here's the actual floor plan to help you navigate her place:

Josh and I have sore muscles and we're pretty worn out from our adventure in apartment moving!

Hope Alex and Brinkley will be happy in the deluxe apartment in the sky.

And for those of you that need a reminder of Movin' on Up, here's the video:

The Mask

One of my favorite things to do is go junking at our local thrift stores. Yesterday I went early just to look around and found this mask carved from tree bark.

It's weird, but I thought Josh might want to hang it in his dorm room. I have no idea if it's a warrior mask or voodoo related. I just thought it was cool.

Hope he likes it.

I Promise. No More Pillow Posts. I Think.

I made this pillow last night. I like the pretty color and pattern with the pillows mom worked so hard to make.

They look pretty on my front bench , don't they?

Now I need to find another hobby to keep my busy.

Another Pillow Post!

Okay so I guess I'm a bit obsessed with pillow-making. I made a few more pillows.

Call me crazy, but I just can't seem to stop! Mom you've created a monster!

Here are a couple of pictures of the grain sack-ish pillows I made a week or two ago.

I drew the stripes on with a sharpie! I love them!

Le Bon Chocolat

Nancy celebrated her birthday on the 6th and Josh and I went to San Antonio to celebrate with her.

I made this cute jar of chocolates for her.

Isn't it cute!

Happy Birthday Nancy!

Life and Stuff

Been thinking about my life and where it has taken me. Things have happened in my life that I never thought would happen. Both good and bad.

I've also been thinking about my dad and wondering what he would say to me today to encourage me. I miss him a lot.

I have a feeling in my gut that my life will be short. And I'm okay with that. I just want to see my first grandchild and see Josh off to college. After that the Lord can call me home. I'm pretty tired of struggling with life and all the challenges, so if I have to leave this earth early, it will be somewhat of a relief.

Don't get me wrong. I have been blessed in so many ways. I have three precious, beautiful children. They are the only way I have made it this far. I love them. Even if they aren't perfect. They are the spice in my life. They keep my life interesting. And fun. And scary. And sad. And wonderful.

And I love them.
