Texas Tech or Bust

Josh and I went to Lubbock on Thursday. We had a great time. Josh is so easy to travel with. Never complains about the long drive or anything. Great kid.

Along the way we had some nice conversations about college and his friends and music. I let him play his music and sing along when I know the song. Lots of fun.

We went to a place called "A Guy from Italy Pizza" across the street from campus. I took this picture of Josh wearing his Texas Tech shirt.  So handsome.

Yes, the pizza was yummy.

Gonna miss his sweet face when he goes away for college.

Under the Stars

Josh went to his senior prom last night. The theme was "Under the Stars".

He looked very handsome. Then I noticed the shoes he was wearing...

Yep, he wore his tennis shoes.

Here's his model pose:

I made his boutonniere.

Here's what the flower looked like this morning:

Hard to believe his senior year is almost over.

Poor Brinkley.

Brinkley had to go to the vet this morning. I pictured him riding in the car with his mommy like this.

The vet said he had a hematoma on his ear and an infection on his foot. Lots of medicine and a draining procedure that I don't want to talk about because it makes me sad.

I like to think of Brinkley like this playing with a rugby ball.

Or this - chillin' at my house.

Get well soon Brinkley Bear. We love you!

Welcome to My Hillbilly Home

Well, it finally happened. My oven door came off. There I was making chicken for dinner when I opened  the oven door and wham! Not only did the oven door come off, it fell off onto my feet. No I was not hurt, but I had to get Josh to help me put the door back on so I could finish cooking our dinner. After the chicken was out of the oven Josh and I taped the door onto the front of the stove. Here it is in all its glory.

Yes, it looks like I am a hillbilly. Yes, it's embarrassing. Yes, Ill need to purchase a new stove. My crazy life continues...

Let There Be Light.

My electricians (David and Josh) hung the new chandelier in the dining room last night.

I like the way it looks and think adding a dimmer switch will be a smart idea.

My electricians are great and they work for free! (I did feed them dinner so technically they don't really work for free). The next electrical job is hanging a fan in David's room. Oh, and the dimmer switch for the new chandelier.

It's so nice to have a light over the table after months without one. I can finally see my food!

Chalkboard Artist.

Meredith was here for Easter. After lunch she created some chalkboard art for me.

Isn't it cute! Meredith is quite the artist. She will graduate from Baylor in about a month. Maybe she can create blackboard art for a while until a job comes along.

A Face Only A Mother Could Love.

Jack is getting old. He'll be 8 this fall. His hip bothers him sometimes. He'll stand next to the bed now when it hurts and wait for me to lift him up.

Jack is not a good looking dog. He won't win any dog shows. But he is sweet. And I love him just the way he is.

Bed Hog.

He's a big puppy. And I love him, but he hogs the bed.

I have to get  in the bed before he does so I can make room for myself. Not sure how Allie does it.

I miss him already.

Happy Birthday Peanut!

We celebrated Alexandra's birthday on Saturday.

The cake was yummy and we laughed and had a great time.

She's a great sister, a hard worker and a wonderful daughter.

I adore her.

What Does the Dining Room Look Like?

When I spoke to mom last week she asked me to send a photo of the dining room now that it's painted. The dining room is a mess, but here it is.

I haven't decorated the hutch yet. There always seems to be more pressing things to do before I take that on. Maybe mom will do that when she comes to visit. Here's another shot.

Maybe another post will be the decorated hutch.  Unless I get side-tracked again...

What's Your Angle on This?

Mom suggested I move the Brian Brown Bookcase at an angle in the living room. "Angling furniture is the latest thing." she said.

So I got my burly boy (Josh) to turn the bookcase at an angle.

What do you think? Before I move the clock and add the remaining books, do I leave it this way? Is this the answer to the bookcase dilemma? The world may never know.
